2024-2025 GREEN HORNETS WRESTLING
Our program is committed to developing young sportsmen in a safe and fun environment. Wrestling may be the purest form of athletic competition. It is a unique sport that instills strong work ethic and discipline in its participants. It is our goal to teach the sport of wrestling while developing these characteristics along the way. Whether your child is new to the sport, or if they have been wrestling for years, we have a place for them.
Green Hornets Novice Team
Registration for the Green Hornets Novice team is open to grades K-8. This program will focus on establishing a good technical foundation for those new to the sport while providing continued learning of the fundamental techniques for anyone with limited experience in the sport. The novice team will practice 2 times/week and compete in the Anne Arundel County Wrestling League against other area novice teams. Competitions are designed as an introduction to the sport of wrestling with age/weight/experience considered on match day.
Severna Park Wrestling Club Team
The Severna Park Wrestling Club team is open to boys and girls of all ages and weights. Our club team is geared toward intermediate to advanced ability levels. Some wrestling experience is required as practices will be held 3 nights/week and focus on developing technique and conditioning through high paced drilling and live goes. League competitions are held against the top wrestling teams in the county and the surrounding area.
The club team competes in the Anne Arundel County Wrestling League dual meet division. Competitions are typically held on Sundays against other league-teams. These matches are “straight weight” events with no age or experience considerations given.
In-season and post-season tournaments will also be scheduled with some to include age/weight divisions.
Practice
Wrestling practices will begin in early-November and run through early-March.
Headgear, wrestling shoes, and athletic wear are required for practice.
Season
League competitions begin on the first weekend of January and end in the last weekend of February. Our county tournament will be the final league sponsored event with state, mid-Atlantic region, and national events commencing in March.
Coaches
Our coaching staff consists of current and former high school wrestling coaches, high school wrestling standouts and former collegiate wrestlers. Each of our coaches brings a passion and understanding of the sport to our program. Our coaches are committed to teaching the sport of wrestling, to growing the sport, and to helping our teams achieve their goals.
We are always looking for coaches to help throughout the season. Please register online when registering your child.
